So despite this snowy weather I braved the cold (and so did my wee sister who took the photo’s, thanks Ruth!) to show you this gorgeous new dress that I was given yesterday from my Auntie who’s over from the States at the minute! It’s from Forever21 and is very on trend at the minute with the asymmetric hemline and I love the pale cream colour as this means it will be great with any colour statement jewellery!
The flower belt is also from Forever21. At a size Medium/Large it is a bit too big, but I’ve found a way to tie it which makes it fit me! It’s such a unique belt & I think it looks absolutely gorgeous.
I kept the outfit really simple for these pictures to simply show the dress & belt, and how gorgeous it looks on it’s own! Unfortunately, none of the shoes I have taken home with me for the week are ones I would wear with this but I have the perfect pair of white & hessian style heels or wedges which would be absolutely perfect with this!
Definitely looking forward to the weather making up it’s mind (record breaking temperatures last week followed by snowfall last night, really?!) which will hopefully mean more weather like last week’s - wishful thinking, I know!
If you like this look, you can find it on Lookbook.nu at http://lookbook.nu/look/3285249-Light-After-The-Snowfall and if you want my page it’s http://lookbook.nu/rachelfromfashion.
I would appreciate it if you ‘hyped’ any of my looks that you like, and/or if you fanned me!
Until next time, Rachel X

Soooo this is another purchase from yesterday afternoon! This is Topshop Nail Varnish in ‘Awol’ and this an amazing shade, a perfect electric blue. It’s not too dark, and it’s not too light either! A beautiful, vibrant, intense blue!
I purchased this specifically to go with a dress which I have for a Ball I am going to on Friday (Sooo excited for this, can’t wait to have an excuse to be all poshly dressed with my CU friends!), and the shade is a pretty much identical match - amazing! This is the pinterest link to my dress, if you’re intrigued! ;) http://pinterest.com/pin/33003009739361460/ But don’t worry, there will be a blog post of the night next weekend!
And at £5 (and if you’re a lucky student, £4.50) it’s a fine cheap price too, and definitely another staple colour to get you through spring/summer 2012 as it goes with so many things.
Here I’m wearing two coats and the application & consistency was great, polish was quick drying & the brush I quite like too!
I don’t own many Topshop polishes but think I will definitely be looking to add more of them to my collection in the future, as the shades are brilliant and so on trend. I’m about to test it out with my Matte Nail Polish (also from Topshop) before I take this colour off & decide what colour to paint them next for my friend Helen’s birthday night out!
Her blog is amazing, definitely have a look at it too! www.electricsunrise.blogspot.com
One more nail polish post to do from yesterday’s purchases, once I’ve worn it… maybe good for tonight - too many choices!
Hope you like!

Today I bought the new ‘Indian Ocean’ polish from Models Own, which are some new additions to their Beetlejuice collection!
I have worn it here on top of Rimmel’s Misty Jade (which had been made matte with Topshop’s Matte Top Coat’ to give a beautiful shimmery, irridescent finish!
I saw the polish and it instantly reminded me of Chanel’s S/S12 show - pearlescent shades, irridescence and marine like qualities and decided this would be a perfect addition to my collection for this summer (let’s hope the weather stays as warm & beautiful as it has been).
Can’t wait to try this nail polish on it’s own as well, and I’ll do another blog post when I do to hopefully give you a better idea of how beautiful this polish is - I’m not 100% sure these photo’s do it justice, but at least you get the idea!
Must also blog the other two polishes I bought today too, another new Model’s Own polish - Ibiza Mix (Think Deborah Lippmann’s sought after Happy Birthday, glitter frenzy!) and Awol by Topshop Makeup to match a dress I am wearing to a ball next weekend!
Hope you like!

So this post is quite a while overdue! I made these purchases while I was in London a couple of weeks back, at the M.A.C counter in Selfridges (I was loving walking about with my little yellow bag!)
The four purchases were:
1. Satin Lipstick in Runaway Red (part of the new collection, and is a blue-red)
2. Lip Pencil in Brick
3. Paint Pot in Blackground
4. 266 Small angle brush
Only one little problem here, what I asked the woman for was fluidline, but what she gave me was a paint pot. I didn’t realise this until I started using it when I got back to Aberdeen and I couldn’t help feeling a bit disappointed, especially as there is no M.A.C counter in or near Aberdeen! But I emailed M.A.C about what had happened and that I understood it was a mistake, and they replied apologizing and saying that they have ordered me a Fluidline and will send it out to me - and I don’t need to pay anything more or even return the paint pot! Amazing!
Despite the paint pot not being what I was hoping to open, it’s actually really good and does work well as an eyeliner despite being a creamy eye colour. I even use it in tiny amounts to help me define my eyebrows, a little bit goes a long way with that - especially because it’s actual black.
Back to the actual products I have here; starting with my gorgeous red lipstick.
It’s safe to say I LOVE this, and its because it’s a BLUE-RED it works really great with my pale skin tone, dark hair and I think compliments the hazely/bluey colours in my eyes well too! I know I’m going to want to keep a back up stash of this product in case M.A.C ever discontinue it. Luckily, it’s part of the new collection so that won’t be happening anytime soon! Great pigmentation on this lippy, and its
Lip liner isn’t a product I have ever bought before, but it was used on me when the M.A.C girl put on my red lipstick, and I thought I should invest on doing a red lip properly and it really is worthwhile and keeps define the edges, just make sure it matches your lippy!
So after using these, I love M.A.C even more! Can’t wait for my Fluidline to arrive, there will definitely be a blog post/product review to look out for on it! ;)

I have so much blogging to do to keep you all up to date with London! It was the most amazing (yet, extremely tiring!) two days & did much more than I thought we thought we would, which is always good. Might aswell make the most of our time down there!
I have so many blog posts lined up to show you some of the different things we got up to/ where we went/ the fashion show / London purchases… so I intend to get some of that done today!
Thought I would start off with a quick post of what I wore to the event which was the purpose of our trip… London Fashion Weekend.
Here’s a lowdown of my outfit:
NEW YORK & COMPANY, CREAM LEATHER JACKET - I’ve had for years, and I’ve been seeing this style with the diagonal zip in the highstreet, so I definitely chose the right time to give this jacket it’s comeback! Bought it in 2009 I think when I was on holiday in Houston, TX.
TOPSHOP EAGLES LOOSE TEE - Bought this in Topshop Oxford Circus during this trip and I love it. Bought a similar one which is grey with a closeup on a Lions face on it, I’m sure you’ll see it sometime soon. I know you can’t see it properly, but it will be in my blog post which I need to put up of what I wore, yesterday.
TOPSHOP GOLD STATEMENT NECKLACE - if this necklace doesn’t make a statement, I don’t know what does! Definitely needed one of these to add to my collection.
ZARA TRF BLACK ASYMMETRIC SKIRT -I bought this just before new year, (and wore it at new year - as I’m sure you’ll probably recognize it from that outfit post!) and I absolutely love it, goes with so many things! Love that the breeze caught it in this photo to really show it off!
TOPSHOP ALIBI BLACK BOOTS - I wear these so much, (as you can probably tell with all my other outfit posts!) brilliant for going with everything and they & I survived walking for hours on end around London. Black flats were always in the handbag just in case though!
ZARA TRI-COLOUR CITY BAG - Such a convenient bag to have, so glad that I bought myself both a brown & black handbag from Zara because I couldn’t cope without one or the other. Was big enough to hold my bulky SLR camera, purse, spare shoes and my makeup bag - winner.
I also treated myself to some new M.A.C lipstick while I was in Selfridges. I needed a red that was the right tone for me, as reds are such a hard colour to buy - so many offerings. The one I bought which I am also wearing here is M.A.C Runaway Red which is a gorgeous satin, no sparkles or shimmers here! Will do a blog post on it soon too.
1 London post down, so many more still to do!…

How gorgeous is this?!
This ‘Tiffany Locks Heart Lock Necklace’ was a gift to me from my lovely boyfriend, Stuart, for Valentines Day. I know that was a few days ago, but I’ve been very busy with coursework and I don’t care if this post is late - this beauty deserves a post!
I’ve actually had my eye on this one for ages, but he actually chose this all on his own! So proud of him and definitely love this necklace so much, I’ve worn it ever since I got it.
I wore it the other day with my other Tiffany necklace (my Tiffany Key - also from Stuart which he gave me on my 18th birthday!) and they look gorgeous together.
I’m a very lucky girl!

I haven’t done a ‘What I wore today’ post in ages, mainly because it can be a faff to get the tripod out and all set up at the right height, sort the camera settings - and then to top it all off, not so photogenic me. Often takes a while to get shots that I’m happy with!
I really shouldn’t have worn this outfit today but I did anyway, I bought these H&M leather style leggings on Saturday to wear in London. But I caved in (only 9 days to go anyway…) and thought that I should give them one outing, just you know, to give them a trial run?
These leggings are thinner that I’d hoped to get but I think they look really nice & they do the job! Was lucky to find these in my size, as everyone was after them this weekend. Topshop had none left!
I wanted to keep the outfit really simple and let the pastel yellow be the focus so it was yellow, cream and black today. And I managed to avoid looking like a bumblebee! The cream leather jacket I have had for years, but for some reason I don’t wear it all that often but it looked just right for today’s outfit - think it will definitely be getting out of my wardrobe more often from now on!
Here’s more details about the outfit:
Matte Leather Look Leggings - H&M, £14.99
Pastel Yellow Oversized Top - Miss Selfridge (Sale), £5
Handbag - Zara, £49.99
Cream Leather Jacket - New York & Company, about $130?
Black Boots - Topshop Albi, £79
Necklace - From local jewellery designer, roughly £20

(All images bar the last image are my own, personally photographed images)
As part of Chanel’s S/S12 collection, they have released three nail colours which are named very aptly for the upcoming S/S12 season. I say upcoming because here in Aberdeen it’s been nothing but freezing cold and windy although today it was much sunnier than it has been in ages.
The ‘Harmonie De Printemps’ collection was designed with the unique colours of the developing season in mind. Take note people, a fresh and radiant look is in for this season. The combination of apricot eyes and nails a la Chanel is gorgeous! (See for yourself: http://www.chanel.com/en_GB/fragrance-beauty/Universe-COLLECTION-HARMONIE-DE-PRINTEMPS-125257)
Now let’s talk nails.
The nail varnish I have above is ‘533 April’ which was bought for me by my lovely boyfriend, Stuart, when he was through to visit me for a couple days. (Also, this reminds me I need to post the new jumper & necklace I recieved/bought too!)
April was my colour of choice as it seemed to me to be the most unique colour - which made it difficult to photograph it’s true colour, and the dark Aberdeen weather was not helping me out either. Luckily, Chanel’s own picture help’s me out here and is the most truthful colour. To me, April & June are quite easily dupeable. I already own a Rimmel light orangey shade which could easily replace the Chanel, and I’m not a bright pinky person when it comes to my nail colour/colours I wear in general - although I do own a light pink Fearne nail varnish which will do me this season.
April however, I find really hard to pin which colour it is. Luckily I’m not the only one as many bloggers are having the same dilemma. It’s not red, yet it’s not quite pink - yet it swatches with a hint of purple! It’s not raspberry, and it’s not cranberry either. Chanel describe it as, ‘The luminous garnet of wild fruit’ and I think that’s the best description of it anyone’s going to give!
May (pink) is: ’The intense pink of happiness’
June (orange) is: ‘A pastel apricot for a sneek peek of summer’
My verdict… The consistency of this polish was really nice, and went on well. For such a pigmented colour, it also comes of really well - though I do recommend a base coat for any nail polish, especially the darker colours. The glossy finish you get with this is amazing! In these photo’s I haven’t even applied a top coat to achieve that nice shine. May & June are also gorgeous colours, but I think they’re easily dupeable whereas April isn’t - so I wasn’t willing to choose a polish where I could get a almost identical colour from the likes of Barry M. Even if they lack the quality & creamy texture these polishes have. I love April!
Already planning a bit of nail art with April and a hint of Chanel Peridot ;)

So I’ve now finished working at Zara (sad face, I enjoyed it there) after my temporary contract ran out and they couldn’t renew it - and just before I left I decided I needed to make the most of my 15 % discount while I could still get it. Shame on you Zara for not doing student discount!
There have been so many nice things in the shop, forever new things out on the shop floor or that I’ve seen lurking in the stock room or remote, but I decided to be sensible since I don’t really have much money so stuck to some pieces which I have been desperately needing. In my case, a new handbag… or a cheeky two (can’t blame me with the discount alongside genuine need!) I broke my last handbag and have been using an old, huge Calvin Klein bag in it’s place for the last while, so really needed something new.
I’d had my eye on these handbags for a while, online & in store! For the tan one, I’d actually had my eye on the plated strap tan bag but it was £79.99 and this one looks so similar but was only £39.99! (original price, not staff discount price).
So it was justifiable to buy this one and also get the black bag! Worked out much cheaper too, got both bags for much cheaper than if I had bought the other plated shopper tan bag. They’re both really large handbags, which is the only type of handbag I would ever need/own, so perfect for everyday & Uni stuff! Perfect for London town too ;)
I was shopping with my friends when I bought these and I was just so indecisive
(as per usual for me), but I decided that between the two bags they would be perfect with absolutely everything - and I was in need of a black bag too, the first black one I’ve ever owned! I’m more of a brown girl you see, who’s trying to inject more black in my wardrobe (plus, this bag looks stunning with my Topshop Alibi’s!) The grey section and snakeskin print tab and handle just makes the bag so much more unique, and I’ve not seen another handbag like it, or anyone else with it yet (which to me, is a good thing!) With the brown bag, there are probably many very similar ones out there from other retailers.
So incase you happen to fancy these here are a few more details:
ZARA Tan Shopper Basket - £39.99
ZARA Black Tri-combined City Bag - £49.99
For the black bag, Zara also have a little clutch ‘messenger bag’ and ‘City Bag with Snakeskin Flap’ which are the same colours, and snakeskin pattern as the one I own, shown above, just on a different style of bag if you’re not as suited and dependent on large handbags, like I am.
Hope you like!
